“I value what an active woman wants in a new shoe – what she desires from both a practical and poetic standpoint”, says fashion designer Chrissie Morris in describing the creative process that grounds the 3-year old company that bears her name.
Establishing her own line in 2007, Chrissie Morris combines an English design philosophy with Italian craftsmanship to produce artisanal yet progressive luxury footwear for women, that has been described as ‘jewels for the feet”. Over the past 3 years Chrissie has carefully developed her business and design to produce exquisite shoes which truly embody the Italian artisan element whilst pushing boundaries with her fashion forward design.
From an early age, Chrissie Morris showed an aptitude towards design, and arts and crafts, landing her first job in the fashion industry, at fourteen, designing clothes, for a local boutique in Nottingham, her hometown. Chrissie went on to earn her degree in Fashion Design from John Moores University in Liverpool, where she focused her fashion research on Knitwear and Constructed Textiles, while furthering perfected her skill in drawing, painting and sculpture.
After her time spent in Liverpool, Chrissie studied in Milan and earned a master’s degree in fashion design at Domus Academy (2001). It was in Italy where her interest in leather and shoes was encouraged and nurtured and where she still produces every shoe in her recently acquired factory Calzaturificio Righi. Chrissie is passionate about maintaining the art of Italian craftsmanship and the exceptional quality and design is always present from season to season.
